2020 has been a year like no other. COVID 19 has reshaped all of our lives in many ways. This month our hearts were brought to the many businesses that have been impacted by the mandated closings and capacity restrictions.
A small business once started as someone's dream. Dreams and aspirations are gifts from God. Everytime you walk into a business, think about how someone dreamed about this, struggled and sacrificed to create it. Someone most likely cried tears of joy when they saw their doors open. Small businesses have an impact on so many lives. They are a part of someone's family memory - whether it be a special occasion lunch /dinner or purchasing a special gift for someone you love. Remember when you met your girlfriend for coffee when she found out her loved one was sick? Or when your child scored that winning goal and you got ice cream? Small businesses also are a gift to the families who have worked for generations to create something that will be around for generations more. They provide a person or family the ability provide for their needs as well as their employees.
For our December activity, in the spirit of our name (Good Intentions From Annapolis), we created bows with a message of empathy and hope and hung them on some of the local businesses' doors. This of course is in addition to ordering carry out and making a donation to the Annapolis area employee fund. Our goal was to acknowledge their undue suffering and let them know we are praying for them.
“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18
God sees your struggles. Turn to Him during this time and offer your suffering up and become closer to Jesus. Has God brought you to your knees? Perhaps he has brought all of us to our knees in this season. Why not reach out and have a heartfelt talk with him? He will hear you in your sincerity.
